Fokion was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He graduated from the German School of Thessaloniki in 1989 and he gained his undergraduate degree (BSc Mathematics and Management) from King’s College London in 1992. He received his MBA title from Athens University of Economics and Business in 2005.
During his professional career he worked in several positions in commercial and ICT companies, being responsible for business development, sales, and marketing. He is challenged by creating business growth through combining strategy and marketing with customer relationship activities, team building and business matchmaking. He is very talented in bringing people together by leveraging own connections and insists on market intelligence being used in the innovation process.
Fokion is passionate about technology and has a natural interest in technology transfer, exploitation, and commercialization. He believes that innovation and accompanying science and technology have a profound connection to the world’s economic growth, but also to our society’s corresponding ability to generate wellbeing and tackle societal challenges. Science and Technology Parks are working towards this exact direction by promoting the culture of innovation and the competitiveness of their associated businesses and knowledge-based partners.
In his (very limited) free time, Fokion is a keen skier, a moderate kite surfer and a very bad golfer. Above all else, he is the proud father to two brilliant girls, Frederica and Sophia.
